School Meals

At Wendell Park we believe that the best option for children at lunchtimes is to have the hot school dinner, provided through our partnership with AiP (Alliance in Partnership) catering.

Our hot meal menu can be viewed here:

Most children at Wendell Park choose to have a school meal children are able to choose from a wide selection of meals including vegetarian, Halal and non-Halal.   Lunches are cooked on the school premises.

All food is prepared on the day of serving in hygienic surroundings, by fully trained staff and is in line with government nutritional guidance on healthy eating.

Allergies

Children with allergies can be catered for once a special diet form has been completed by their parent/carer.

Universal Free School Meals - Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

All children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 are entitled to a government-funded school meal.

Free School Meals - Year 3 to 6

For children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 the cost of a hot school meal is currently funded by The Mayor of London.  This will save each family £2.75 a day which is the price of a meal.

Nursery Meal Prices

Nursery children are not entitled to funding and their meals need to be paid for at £2.75 per day in advance.  Please speak with the school office to set up your payment account.

Children may bring a packed lunch if they wish. Parents must notify the school in advance if they wish to change the lunch time arrangements for their children.

Changes may only take place from the beginning of a half term period.

Free School Meals  / Pupil Premium

If you are in receipt of certain benefits you may be eligible for Pupil Premium (Free School Meals) and you could save hundreds of pounds a year. The school also benefits, as we could receive up to £ 1,480 per year from the government for each child registered, which can be used for books, equipment or additional staff.

Use our Free School Meals eligibility checker Any parent can check. Parents with children in Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2 and any parent whose child has a packed lunch, so don’t pay for lunches, may also use the checker and the school could still receive the additional funding.

To apply please complete the form on your local authority’s website

For LBHF residents please click here

You must inform the school office once it has been confirmed that you are eligible for Free School Meals otherwise you will be charged for the meal and the school will not receive the additional funding for teaching and learning.
